Recommendation Letter is like
a confidential character assessment of you done by someone who knows you
and can comment on you. The aim of the recommendation letter is to
assess your calibre and potential to succeed at various levels be it
your academic life or personal life.
You can request a
recommendation letter from a professor or an employer with whom you may
have worked for internships, part-time jobs, etc.
It is advisable to approach a
person with whom you are on good terms and someone who can write in
favour of you.
A favourable recommendation
letter can indeed accelerate your chances of admission at the time of
close calls.
Some of the best
recommendation letters are those which cites examples of your
outstanding contribution or performances. Such references are far
superior than use of blandish adjectives like - "intelligent",
"passionate", etc. Avoid obtaining recommendation letters from people
who are at high post but do not know you personally. An experienced
person may well make out if the claims made in such a letter are genuine
or pretentious.
Hence it is always advisable
to ask someone who knows you intimately.
If you are going to ask your
professor for recommendation letter, keep following things in mind:
