Most
students have preconceived notion about studying abroad. It ranges right
from "Study Abroad" being extremely expensive to as gross has "it will
be fun".
We present some views which we think will help
you get a clearer vision.
# Myth 1:
Studying Abroad is too expensive.
Yes. Studying Abroad is expensive. But it is
not so expensive that you can not aspire for it.
Things have become significantly easier than
what they used to be few years back. Number of banks are willing to
finance foreign studies. There are number of institutes abroad that
offers sponsorship to deserving students in the form of tuition waiver,
awards, etc.
You can also get loan scholarship as well as
gift scholarship.
# Myth 2: It
will be glamorous and "FUN" to study abroad.
There can not be anything further from truth.
Reality can be far more different from what is shown in Hollywood
movies.
Yes, we do not deny that studying abroad can be
an absolutely exciting experience.
But, foreign universities are extremely
demanding from students. COPY-PASTE projects are not accepted. You need
to do hardcore research and come out with your own conclusions. And oh
boy, this is not an easy task.
# Myth 3: It
won't be interesting if I get admission in non co-ed university.
You are going abroad to study and not to make
opposite gender friends. Individuals from single-gender colleges
confirms that being in a single-gender college enables to give 100% to
learning and helps remain focus on the goal.
None the less, there are various inter-college
activities that help you interact with students from other universities.
# Myth 4: I've
got great academic report. I'll easily get admission in any university.
A strong academic performance is extremely
important for getting admission in a good university, but it is not the
only thing that counts.
The admission committee looks into various
other credentials while making a decision. They include - academic
achievements, test scores (GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS), essays, personal
statements, recommendation letters, etc. So remember to provide
sufficient material to the admission panel about your various strengths.
# Myth 5: If I
get into a foreign university, then there is no looking back.
Don't even think that. Getting into a foreign
university is the just the beginning of your journey and an opportunity
to learn and experiment with new things.
It is your sheer hard work, determination and
your aspirations that will make you successful, whether you study in
India or Abroad.
There are no shortcuts to success.
